The Darien Historical Society is the town’s only organization dedicated to preserving the unique story of our town – the story of us.

When visitors enter the Bates Scofield Museum, they are transported back to colonial times when life revolved mainly around the farm and church. Our 1832 Scofield Barn has been transformed into a  soaring first-class exhibition and programming space where we present lectures and exhibits that put our local history into a broader context.

In addition, the Society preserves artifacts, letters and documents, and educates our community through lectures, exhibits and student field trips.

Your membership contribution is vital to our continued success, and your support allows us to helps us maintain our landmark house, barn and gardens.

As a member, you receive:
  • Free admission
  • Invitations to members-only exhibition previews and behind-the-scenes tours
  • Access to the Historical Society's library and archives
  • Reduced fees for programs, publications, and private event rentals
